Rosacea can sometimes look like acne, requiring proper diagnosis and treatment. At Humboldt Derm, we provide both.
Rosacea causes facial redness and swelling, something you know if you’ve been afflicted. Sometimes referred to as adult acne, it can often be exacerbated by a flush or a blush. It can come and go over the years, affecting the eyes and often presenting with a burning sensation.
Rosacea is an inflammatory disorder.
We treat rosacea in a variety of ways, depending on your particular case and how it is affecting your life. By using non-medical interventions, we can help minimize what may be causing your facial flushing. That might entail something as simple as avoiding hot drinks, spicy food, alcohol, and caffeine, as well as extreme temperatures. Because rosacea is an inflammatory disorder you should also avoid physical and chemical irritants.
Treatments may include topical prescription products, oral antibiotics, coated aspirin, and sunscreen. We can also remove enlarged vessels with specially designed lasers. As with everything we do at Humboldt Derm, any treatment prescribed requires proper diagnosis. Come see us if you suspect you have rosacea.
